Headshots

On Location. In Studio. Coaching. Fast Turn Around. No one, literally no one, just steps in front of the camera and nails it immediately. This is often a rather awkward experience … The very first image I take is typically not going to be the best one. But this is precisely where we begin to get comfortable. As we progress, we laugh together, and you'll come to realize that sitting in front of the camera is not necessarily THAT bad, and slowly the pressure starts to ease off. Then, as we continue, we level up in your comfort and confidence, allowing us to capture the perfect shot and, before you know it, you’re done.

The most difficult task, picking your favorites.

When preparing for your session, keep it simple.  There’s probably a ton of questions running through your head! What do you wear? What about make up? Do I wear jewelry? For headshots to be effective in a perfect way, the photo needs to bring focus to you and not away from you. Big Jewelry and bold patterns are not our friends. We want to keep the focus on you so let’s keep it minimal. Leading us to clothing choice. Focus on wearing colors that compliment your hair, skin tone, eyes, etc. Bolder colors seem to be a distraction and pull focus from you. Reds and oranges tend to reflect light into your face and tint your skin as well. Neutral colors are where its at. Blacks, browns, grays, blues. Since headshots are only above the mid chest, don’t get crazy about the overall fit. What matters is what the camera sees. Clothes that are more fitted and less baggy are best. You want to look like the same person in the photo as you do in the room. It’s best do go with what you would normally use on a day to day, don’t overdo it! The value you place on yourself will absolutely determine the quality of your headshot which will translate to more confidence for you and your career goals.
